K•A•C was part of the steering group for the new British Standards Institute specification for e-cigarettes. This is – internationally - the first comprehensive standard for e-cigarettes, covering purity of e-liquid ingredients in manufacture; contaminants arising from device materials and potential emissions from device operation; electrical safety; and metals and carbonyls in emissions. It is designed to help improve product
safety and quality to meet consumer needs. It is a voluntary specification for producers and distributors. BSI is now part of a new European programme to develop a European standard for e-cigarettes, being developed by CEN – the European Committee for Standardization.
